Our Vision & Values
Values-based Education
We are proud of our school, our pupils, and their successes. We aim to make the learning experience varied and inclusive and remain ambitious in our desire to achieve excellence for all.
Ours is a happy school, where the success of every child really matters. Everyone is committed to developing the knowledge, skills, and understanding that enable your child to enjoy learning, achieve success, and become a fulfilled young person.
Values are things we believe in that help us to make decisions about how to behave. They are the principles that guide our lives. Some values are quite tricky to understand and difficult to uphold every day, while others are easier to identify and simpler to maintain.
As a values-based school, we have 22 values that are celebrated over an academic two-year cycle, (one per month). From these 22 values, we have identified, three core values that underpin everything we do, values that are integral to daily life at Haydon Wick but will also prepare our pupils for their future.

British Values
At Haydon Wick, we actively promote British values through our school vision, ethos, agreed rules, curriculum, and teaching. As such, we promote tolerance of, and respect for, people of all faiths (or those with no faith), cultures, and lifestyles.
We prepare children and young people positively for life in modern Britain by supporting them through our words, actions, and influence, not just within school, but also within the wider community.
Promoting Our Values
The government defines British values as:
- Democracy.
- Rule of law.
- Individual liberty.
- Mutual respect.
- Tolerance of those of different faiths.
At Haydon Wick, we value the diverse ethnic backgrounds of all pupils and families and undertake a variety of events and lessons to celebrate these. We have found this approach to be enriching for all parties as it teaches tolerance and respect for the differences in our community and the wider world. Underpinning all of this is a range of curriculum topics that have strong links to the British Empire. We actively challenge children, staff, and parents expressing opinions contrary to fundamental British values, including ‘extremist’ views.
As part of The White Horse Federation, we passionately believe that by working together, the children are able to have a higher quality of education, and that as colleagues, we will also benefit from and reap the rewards of a values-based organisation where no one is left behind.
